AI-powered, self-serve system for translating written ideas into short-form video
Overview
A self-serve system that translates written content into short-form video through structured, editor-controlled workflows.
Design Goal
Create a self-serve system enabling non-technical editors and writers to generate 1000+ 30–60 second branded videos in minutes—without video production skills or engineering support, while preserving editorial control and brand consistency.
Workflow Overview
A guided, modular workflow that translates written content into short-form video by treating narrative, imagery, motion, and assembly as independent components.
Each stage preserves editorial control while enabling regeneration without resetting the workflow, allowing non-technical editors to iterate on structure, tone, and visuals without creative or technical handoffs.
System Design
The system treats video production as a translation pipeline rather than a linear production process, breaking content into modular, regenerable components.

Article Ingestion
Editors paste a blog URL or article text. The system automatically extracts key ideas and structures them into text-on-screen units optimized for silent viewing.
Narrative Structuring
Editors review, edit, regenerate, or add captions cards. Each card functions as an independent unit, allowing granular control over pacing, emphasis, and tone.
Visual Synthesis
Each caption generates its own visual concept. Editors preview and regenerate imagery shot-by-shot without resetting the workflow.
Motion Generation & Brand Overlays
Visual concepts are animated into short video clips while users can choose from three branded overlay styles. Individual shots can be regenerated independently to refine composition, timing, or tone.
Assembly
Modular clips are composed into a final branded video ready for download.
Results & Impact
Reduced video production time from hours to minutes
Supported a pilot target of 1,000 videos, cutting production costs by over 90%
Enabled editors to independently produce hundreds of videos without creative or technical support
Removed creative and technical handoffs from the workflow
Established a scalable foundation for future AI-assisted video systems
Reflection
This project reframed video production as a systems design problem rather than a content problem. I was able to focus on structure, constraints, and editorial control to enable creative output at scale.
